Setting Up Forms & Installing the Subbase

We begin by setting wood forms to define the correct level for the subbase. Final Stages of Paver Construction

What we do next is add a concrete edge to the perimeter of the patio that is exposed. This concrete edge is a restraint and keeps the pavers from shifting out of place. The concrete is set about 1 inch below the top of the paver and then gets covered by topsoil.

To fill in all the joints between the pavers we use polymeric sand. This process is where we sweep the sand into the joints and after proper installation and adding water the sand will set to a hard finish. Paver Sealants

If you enjoy the rich color your patio shows when it’s wet, a sealer can help maintain that look year-round. However, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying any sealer. This waiting period allows natural efflorescence, the light, powdery residue that can appear on new pavers, to surface and dissipate. After that time, sealing can safely improve color depth and protect your patio’s surface from stains and weathering.
